    France 1911: Pioneering Aviation, 'Le Petit Journal' Morocco Experimental Flight, Pilot Henri Brégi and passenger René Lebaut, picture postcard, from Rabat, Morocco to Paris, France, dated 19th September 1911, franked Morocco 10 c. tied by Rabat datestamp, with special flight bilingual cachet in black alongside, manuscript flight date, card has been manuscript illustrated by hand with names of those pictured and their role in the delivery of the experimental flight, on reverse private note from Monsieur Gaillard who is pictured to front, a unique and charming example; comes with an unused commemorative 'Petit Journal' picture postcard depicting both pilot and passenger with an image of the aircraft on the Casablanca beach, has corner crease: scarce duo and an important flight in the development of airmail in Morocco.

    Issued Stamps 1849/50: Ceres 1 fr. carmine, 40 c. orange and 10 c. yellow-brown, all with good to large margins, tied by roller cancel to 1852 printed matter entire (two flaps missing) detailing a change in interest rates for French Government bonds from Paris to Lisbon; asking the holder of such Bonds for instructions. The letter is endorsed "par l'angeterre" and bears a London transit (March 26), red PD and a "210" (Reis) Tax mark on arrival. Reverse with Lisbon (April 2) arrival. A very fine and attractive first issue three colour franking. Signed Calves. Cert. A. Diena (1974).

    1854 (31 July): Triple rate Lettersheet from Le Havre to Lima, Peru via Panama, bearing on front and reverse Napoléon laureated 10 c. bistre and 20 c. blue as well as two strips of three, three pairs and three single examples of 40 c. orange, tied / cancelled by multiple strikes of Petits Chiffres '1495' numeral in red, three adhesives in addition by "FOREIGN PAID" handstamp in red, "BUREAU MARITIME LE HAVRE" despatch cds, framed PD and London PAID (2 Aug), all in red struck to front. Although '2' noted on front pointing to a second weight rate cover, this item was correctly franked three times 210 centimes from France with British vessel to the Pacific Coast of South America, following the tariff of August 1849. As to be expected for a franking of this sheer extent, filing folds and cutting irregularities are present, nevertheless an impressive and attractive cover from these early years. Signed Brun. Cert.     1862: Registered wrapper within Sarlat, bearing a mass franking of Napoléon laureated 2 c. red brown, type I, three horizontal strips of five, fresh and fine examples, each stamp tied by clear Gros Chiffres '3301' lozenge, despatch cds (Aug. 18, 1869) and CHARGÉ in red alongside. Also two covers from October 1871 with combination frankings of Alsace-Lorraine 20 c. blue with 1871 Cérès 25 c., and two 1872 covers with combination frankings of Alsace-Lorraine 20 c. blue with Germany Small Shield 2 gr. blue (Mi 5). Also exceptional Entire letter from BISCHWEILER to Elbeuf, bearing the occupation adhesives with normal underprint 'burelage droit', 20 c. blue in combination franking with France Napoléon lauré 10 c. bistre and Cérès 1871 15 c. bistre, three fresh single adhesives, the 20 c. tied by clear "BISCHWEILER 19 9 71 5-6N." cds, the French adhesives tied by Avricourt Paris 'AV P 1°' railway lozenges. Interesting and appealing item, an exceptional mixed franking between German and French adhesives, which was in use between March 24, 1870 until the German - French postal contract at May 14, 1872. This cover is in addition a so called September cover after the increase of the French inland rate from 20 to 25 centimes on September 1, 1871, here with the usage of the Cérès 15 centimes, issued just two weeks ago. Lot includes three unmounted og adhesives with normal underprint 'burelage droit' of 1 c. grey-oliv, 2 c. reddish brown, and 4 c. lilac-grey.     1849-2000: General collection of France housed in 5 Lighthouse preprinted albums (hingeless), the collections is besides the true rarities quite complete, Ceres 1849 except '1 Fr. Vermillion' all present, with no less than three examples of the 1 Franc red-brown, Bordeaux issue, alle values present etc. etc. In spite of the odd fault or a shorter margin here and there, mainly highly appealing examples. From 1900 on almost only unused with a few gaps, but with on the other hand quite a lot of better stamps, as '20 F Merson', 'Bordeaux Expo 1923', '50 Francs Airpost Banknote', 'Samothrace', 'Pexip Souvenir Sheet' etc. From 1938 on complete and from 1945 no more hinged stamps detected. High catalogue value!

With 6 certificates of the Philatelic Federation of South Africa for 31 stamps, three stamps without certificate.  Type 'Sage' 5, 25, 50, 75 c. and 2 F.; type  'Blanc' 1 c. to 5 c., 'Mouchon I' type 10 c. to 30 c. , 'lined Sewer' 5 c. - 30 c., 'Sewer with plain background' 5 c. - 35 c., 'Merson' type 45 c. - 2.     1646/1868: Accumulation of 34 small letters of predominantly exceptional quality. Beginning with eight pre-philatelic items including two charming 17th century letters, red "P33P MONTPELLIER" departmental cachet on 1802 letter to Italy or an attractive 1832 disinfected letter from Marseille to Bologna with the usual slits and disinfection markings confirming the treatment. Later items include five letters bearing 1849 Ceres single frankings with large margins, a letter with "Emission Presidence", a letter with emission Presidence, Empire non dentele with a letter bearing a just touched 20c. tied by three strikes "OR" in single circle, a marginal 10c. and a handful of later letters as well as to 1868/70 italian 10 c.     1876/96: Selection 20 covers with 16 value covers 'lettres chargées avec valeur declarée' with Sage frankings, most of them two- or three colour frankings, incl. 1880 mixed franking with Siège, sent to Belgium, 1876 mixed franking with Cérès, 1877 with two pairs 1 fr. green-bronze, 1879 strip of five 40 c. orange type I, 1886 cover with an insured value of 6'000 francs bearing ten examples 1 fr. green-olive type II, 1885 cover with 35 c. violet-black & 15 c. blue, and 1893 cover with three examples of 75 c. violet on orange. In addition three registered covers 'lettres chargées / letrtres recommandées' incl. 1879 double rate cover from Dunieres struck with rectangular 'R' handstamp in red instead of the 'R' with rounded corners, a usage known after 1873 only in seven post offices. Condition varies as to be expected for these large sized covers with their wax seals, nevertheless an interesting group, one certificate.

    1900/02: Accumulation of attractive colour advertising cards, comprising close to 200 examples contained within two albums, extremely appealing and colourful, almost entirely featuring philately/postal stationery as well as some numismatics, representations feature different countries, many with printed adverts to the reverse, various topics, a number with colour advertisements including mauve, blue, turquoise and brown, a few of the katter which advertise chocolate and one promoting chicory coffee and chocolate beans, one or two with illustrations to the reverse advert, in the main fine, one or two with faults and some with stains/soiling, although all very vibrant, an eye catching assembly.
