    Nyasaland Protectorate 1907: De La Rue composite imperforate Essay for proposed 2½ d. value, with printed vignette in brown super-imposed on partially hand-painted frame endorsed STRAITS SETTLEMENTS at base, the design being utilised initially for the Nyasaland 1908 issue - which however had no 2½ d. Duty. The Straits Settlements used the design for the 21 c. and 45 c. adhesives of Novermber 1910. The Essay with manuscript date "March 8th 07" at top and "Name of Colony + duty to be left blank".
