Rodrigues Island 1895/99: Mauritius 18 c. green & ultramarine, a single example used on 1901 registered cover to Port Louis tied by fair "RODRIGUES" cds (April 16) in black with "REGISTERED / No. 52" at left and oval "Registered / Mauritius" arrival (April 24) in red. Carried by the vessel "Chocolate Girl" under the annual contract with the Mauritian Government. 1806 (June 25): Napoleonic War, an entire letter from 'Isle de France' (Mauritius) to Bordeaux, avoiding the British Continental blockade and struck with superb "ESPAGNE / PAR BAYONNE" entry marking in black and charged '12' décimes due upon arrival.
