Double Heads 1912 (Sept): 5 d. lake-brown & green, perf. 14, a used example (C10, Medal Re-Cut) on 1913 Mail Bag label used from Victoria to Worksop, Notts., England in combination with Small Arms 1898/1908 4 d. olive, Double Heads 2 d. black & slate (3) one with corner defect and 3 d. deep claret & yellow, all tied by "Victoria / Mashonaland" circular datestamps (Jan 8). Reverse with London Registered transit in red (Feb 1). Despite fault and minor imperfections, an exceptional usage of this rare stamp (for a similar Mail Bag label usage to the same address see Gibbs, Sotheby's, Oct 1987, lot 668), and in all probability, unique. 1932 (May 1): Victoria Falls 3 d. deep ultramarine, an unused block of four with variety "Imperforate Between Horizontally and Perforated at Sides", fresh colour and extremely fine, superb unmounted og. Just six pairs of this variety are possible: the original block found at the Bulawayo Post Office was of twelve stamps from the top of the sheet sold to a Mr. Morgan, there are just two vertical pairs and two blocks of four recorded. No example of this rarity is contained in the Royal Philatelic collection. 1932 (May 1): Victoria Falls 3 d. deep ultramarine, an unused vertical pair, variety "Imperforate Between Horizontally", of fine rich colour with part of Printer's guideline in-between the stamps at right, three minor age spots on perfs. not affecting the frontal appearance, unmounted og. The sheet with this variety was found at the Bulawayo Post Office in 1935. Double Heads 1910/13: ½ d. bluish green, a block of four, corner marginal from top left of sheet, variety "Imperforate", with large margins all round and showing guide line at top in margin with slight stain in margin below, used on 1917 registered cover to Durban with 4 d. black & orange, perf. 14, cancelled by 'Salisbury / Rhodesia' cds's (Feb 15) in black. Pink registration label at left and reverse with two further strikes of the Salisbury despatch datestamp.
