1914 (July 29): Postcard mailed from Vathy to Naxos struck with oval framed AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO / VATHY cachet in violet (Tchilinghiran unrecorded), probably used in leiu of stamps as the Austrian P.O.'s status on the Island had changed when the Greek Postal authority assumed control in March 1913 with full Greek unification in 1915. Scarce.

1842 (Aug 9): Merchant's entire letter from Smirna to Constantinople struck with rectangular framed DDSG / P.P / SMYRNE handstamp (Tchilinghirian unrecorded) in black. D.D.S.G. ships were permitted to carry 'port-to-port' mail, this letter being sent three years prior to the Lloyd Agency take-over of the Mediterranean lines, was carried on the newly introduced (1839) Constantinople-Haifa-Alexandria line. 1865 (Dec 9): Large part cover (invoice), carried at triple rate from Smirne to Genoa, disinfected with slits, with multiple franking of 1864 Levant 3 s. green (3), 10 s. blue (6) and single 15 s. brown, all perf. 9½, tied by SMIRNE datestamps in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 4). Blue 'P.D.' below and 'Piroscafi / Postali / Italiani' in black. Reverse with arrival cds and Brindisi transits. 1857/1860: Entire letters (5), all from Smirna to addresses in Constantinople (Comondo and Ottoman Bank correspondences), all being struck with differing types of the rare AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO / SMIRNE (Tchilinghirian figs. 6 and 7) in either black (in 1857 and 1858) or blue (1859 and 1860) ink. Alexandretta 1856 (March 8): Entire letter from Alexandretta to Aleppo, struck on arrival in Aleppo with intaglio seal handstamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 1) with Roman ".L.A." at top, the inscription reading "From the Austrian Post Aleppo, 1855". 1858c.: Undated cover prepaid from Alexandretta to Larnaca, Cyprus struck with oval framed "Sunburst" AGENZIA DEL LLOYD AUSTRIACO / ALESSAND / RETTA handstamp in blackish-blue ink (Tchilinghirian fig. 1), the cover with manuscript displaying well on reverse "P.P.K 40' (Posta Pagata Kreuzer 40). Some overall wear and a corner tear but the strike and annotation extremely fine. A rarity.

Chesme 1852 (Aug 23): Prepaid entire letter from Cesme to Trieste struck with perfect CESME / AGO. 23 datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 1) in black, with FRANCA. alongside. Trieste arrival on reverse (Aug 28) in red and annotated 12 kr. prepaid in manuscript. The example from which Tchilinghirian's copy of the Cesme cancel was taken.

A few file folds, one of which touches the adhesive, but this is of no significance, the cancellation being the sole known example to date. Note: The D.D.S.G. service was restricted to Ottoman territory, thus mail had to be dropped at Baziasch in Hungary where it was transferred to the Austrian Post. In this instance the letter was passed back to the Company for carriage by Mail Steamer from Pest to Vienna.
