A very scarce unused example, one of only 15 mint stamps in existance. Cert. Francis J. Field R.D.P. (1982). 1928 (Sept. 13):'Ile de France' - Catapult Mail from Ireland to Canada, registered photocard from Dublin franked with 3s 6½d., with attached green label. "Catapult airmail per SS 'Ile de France' via Plymouth, sent via "London 16 Sep.26" and "New York 9-25 1928" to "Winnipeg Sept. 27". Unfortunately the catapult aircraft had a forced landing into the sea near the Sicilly Islands on Sept. 13. This accident stopped all further flights. 1847/1970: Collection in one large self designed volume beginning with an unfranked letter from KILLALA to DUBLIN bearing a Circular 2 PAID mark and a blue despatch KILLALA, and an 1847 "SOCIETY OF FRIENDS" letter dealing with feeding the poor in DUBLIN. A small range of forerunners is followed by a good section of overprints including 1922 to 10/- with full og, a 1925 issue 5/- superb used, and the 1935 high values all vfu. 1940 definitives with 1/- full og. 1877/1913: The collection of hand-illustrated covers/cards (10) and cover fronts (6) with an exceptionally beautiful group of five 1877 fronts each bearing an 1864 1 d. red used from Limerick to Bray, Co. Dublin each with pen illustrated animal scenes (featuring a Swan, Mouse, Deer) and two with negative scenes one including a Donkey; two covers franked by 1870 ½ d. pairs used from Limerick to Dublin with superbly rendered depictions of a fieldmouse and a dog chasing a rabbit; 1 d. pink envelope with coloured illustrations of the seaside (1881), 1897 mourning cover with cat illustrations used with 1 d. lilac, 1907 colour illustrated card depicting rainy Irish weather, wonderful 1911 handmade card with spectacular painting of an Irish registered motor-bike and sidecar locally used in Dublin and 1915 wrapper to Canada bearing a fine colour illustration of Killarney. London - Capetown Flight 1936 (May 3): Legal size cover to Amy Johnson at Gravesend Airport and redirected to London with typed inscription detailing her round flight from Gravesend to Cape Town and back to Croydon, bearing two GB 1 1/2d stamps cancelled at South Kensington on May 3rd and May 15th and two circular "CAPETOWN MUNICIPAL AIR-PORT / WINGFIELD" cachets dated 7 May and 10 May, signed by Amy Johnson. 1918/1960: Enormous collection in nineteen self-designed volumes, containing an immense wealth of material from all aspects of Czech philately. The Hradschin issue alone takes up a complete, well filled album with marginals, blocks and covers in quanitity. The overprint provisionals comprise two unused 10 Kr violet of different shades both on ordinary paper with a number of expertiser's marks including Gilbert and Lesitiki. The airmail section begins with a fine 1920 First Flight to ZÜRICH, the stamps and a comparatison with forged overprints. There are several other flight covers in this section. The 1920 Plebiscite is documented by good range of overprint issues including two 10H green imperforate. Furthermore the collection contains a section of Slovakia, with three unused provisional 1939 overprint sets with og and varying expertising marks. 1852/1985: Enormous Collection of stamps, postal stationery and postal history in thirty-five volumes, compiled by a dedicated philatelist with an eye for the unusual and the energy to acquire second and third examples, when everything was already in his collection. The classic section alone is something to behold, with a specialisation, strictly along the lines of the Facit cataloge. The collection begins with nine copies of the 2rbs. blue including two Faerslev prints, with a further two 2 rbs. Thiele prints on cover, both with Copenhagen foot post. All come with certificates. The 4 rbs brown comes with a range of unretouched crowns and a large part cover from the pen cancelation period in 1851. The total number of the 4 rbs. is around two-hundred and forty examples with many on entires and pieces, often with certificates.The following square issues are collected in much the same manner, with strips up to four on cover, a very fine single franking of the 1857 16s. greyish violet, pairs and strips of three, often with little specialities. 1800/1858: Collection of twenty-one stampless entires with a good proportion foreign mail, such as an 1805 Letter to "BOZEN", an 1806 letter via the Netherlands to Spain, there taxed 10R, an 1857 letter with 'Compass mark' to "DÜSSELDORF", an 1863 letter from "WANDSBECK" to "HANNOVER" with red despatch mark "WANDSBECK" and various transit marks. 1807/1869 (approximately): Collection "Copenhagen Foot Post" consisting of some sixteen letters and entires, documenting the various cachets and types in use during the Foot post period from its beginnings as a private enterprise to the integration into the Danish mail. The first seal (type I) is represented by two letters both with certificate Kaiser, as is the third seal, which is represented by a quite stunning incoming letter from Newcastle to Copenhagen. The Type V cachet ia also represented by two examples, again one with certificate Kaiser. The official section includes an early letter from 10. Oct. 1849 and six franked examples. Faroe Islands 1946: 30ö orange in block of four and two further values on registered envelope from THORSHAVN (Reg No 811) to St. Lucia. The stamps are cancelled THORSHAVN 30.4.46. The letter bears two transit marks, one NEW YORK 5 18 and another CASTRIES REGISTERED, dated 14 JU 46. A US Army Postal Services APO 807 arrival mark completes the documentation of the journey. Due to the content the franking has suffered slightly on the edge, which, given the immense rarity of this letter, should not matter significantly. 1919/1949: Impressive collection Faroe Islands with strength in the provisional issues and village star cancels, built over a long period with many items individually purchased at auction. The collection commences with five bisected stamp provisionals all dated 1919: 4. January, 5. January, 6. January and 15. January 1919. These with stamps cancelled THORSHAVN. The fifth, is cancelled VESTMANHAVN with an arrival mark on the front dated 8. Jan 1919. This section is further augmented by a fragment with both bisect and 5ö stamp, also dated 15. January. The parallel issue of wrapper cut outs is also represented with two entire letters, one dated 11. January the other 14. January 1919. The regular provisional issue comprises five overprinted 1919 provisionals on complete covers, dated between 18. and 22. January 1919. A further fragment and a single stamp augment this section, which is accompanied by nine certificates from numerous competent experts including Dr. Debo BPP, Möller, Grönlund, Kaiser, Witschi and Copenhagen Philatelic Society . The 1940/41 provisional series is included unused with full og, as well as twenty-three complete covers covering all values, with many commercial items, including a letter from SANDEVAAG to the district attorney in THORSHAVN, a second commercial letter with the same cachets is also included. A further fifteen pieces and two single stamps round off this section. Highlights include copies with Starcancels: SAND, VIDEREJD, SUMBÖ and SELLETRAE.rnA futher section is dedicated to star cancels, constisting of sixteen entire letters as well as twenty-six pieces and some lose stamps. Danish West Indies 1856/1916: Significant collection of this popular area in one volume with nine used entires, commencing with a very fine 1879 unfranked letter to Paris. The stamps start with a brown gummed pair of the 3c carmine, and fine uesed copy with typical traces of the regumming process. The 1866 issue boasts a total of five copies, 1873 comprises both values used. The 1894 postal stationery is represented by a used example postmarked ST.JAN 26/4 98 to St CROIX with a transit and arrival mark. The oval issues include five bisects on entire, the 1905 high values are unused and twice used cto.
