William Wyon 1837: The "Wyon City Medal" struck to commemorate Queen Victoria's accession to the throne and her visit to the City of London in 1837, examples (2), one in Bronze and the much rarer example struck in Silver and inscribed "In honour of Her Majesty's Visit to the Corporation of London 9th Nov. 1837". Lane ARA, executed for Victoria's 18th birthday with Crown above, a circular design on card with oak leaf surround in pink (98 x 120 mm.), a further printing with elaborate border design encompassing 'Whiting Patent' and facsimile signature at base in grey (*), a bicoloured design of the cameo head on green and orange backgrounds with Royal Coat of Arms below the portrait (believed unique **), together with three different album page sized portraits in black of Lane's portrait.
