    1955 (July 18): Cover carried on ill-fated El Al flight from Paris to Tel Aviv, unacccountably shot down in Tsirbanow, Bulgaria as the Constellation aeroplane was crossing the Romanian border. One bag of mail survived and this envelope was put on board in Bucharest, mailed  from 'Lupena' in Romania to Haifa (adhesives on reverse), with framed explanatory cachet in Hebrew "Accident Mail / El Al / 4X-AKC / Route: Paris - Lydda / July 27, 1955". No reason for the downing of the plane was ever given.

    1852: Thiele printing 2 rbs. blue, Plate II, Types 3-5, positions 61 and 71 on the sheet, the famous vertical pair on 1854 cover to Helsingor tied by '1' numeral obliterators of Copenhagen, the adhesives with enormous even margins all round and of exceptional freshness. Compass clock cancellation in black at lower left. A delightful and extremely rare cover, all pairs but especially vertical pairs, being rarities on letter. Certificates KPC (1977), Nussbaum (1978) and Paaskesen (1998).

    1822 (June 20): Envelope to Helsingfors, dated in manuscript on reverse, showing on front scarce strike of Latin lettering italic 'Abo' handstamp in red, in use only from April to October 1922 as the Abo Postmaster followed, during the Chorlera epidemic, other European countries in using red ink as a warning cancel. A fine and very rare entire, certs. (Gummesson 1998) and Schwenson  (2013).
