1878/83: Large Dragon 3 ca. brown-red, a very fine used example with superb strike of Chinese only 'Station Chang-le' in black, no examples in the James B. Whang collection and listed, inaccurately, in Sun Junyi 'Les Marques Postales de la Dynastie Qing' on page 2 (fig. 1). Rare and fine stamp with an extraordinarily rare cancellation, found in March 2014 in an old estate collection.

1901 (April 20): Twining cover franked by British Railway Administration 5 c. on ½ c. brown tied by 'Railway Post Office / Tientsin' in violet, with India CEF 3 p. carmine pair tied by 'F.P.O. No. 4' datestamps in black. Arrival cds on reverse of a scarce First Day Cover.
1902 (July 7): Postcard (real photo of a cat) sent registered to Paris franked by CIP issue 2 c. scarlet (7 examples: 4 c. postcard rate, 10 c. registration) all tied by SHANGHAI datestamps with framed registration cachet at base. French P.O. in Shanghai transit cds and Paris arrival cds belwo. A few minor imperfections but a scarce card.
1902 (Aug 1): 1 c. red on yellow postal stationery card sent registered to Italy and up-rated with CIP 1 c. orange-yellow, 2 c. scarlet and 10 c. green tied by TIENTSIN datestamps with registration cachet at upper right. Chinese and French 'Shanghai' transits and arrival (Sept 4) on front of a most attractive card.
1909 (Feb 26): Postcard sent registered to Hannover franked by CIP issue 2 c. green and single 10 c. ultramarine tied by CHUNGKING cds's with registration cachet below, Hankow transit cds and Hannover arrival cds (March 16) alongside. Correctly rated at 4 c. postcard rate, 10 c. registration, a scarce usage.
1910: Two illustrated 1 c. pale green postal stationery cards sent to Vienna on the same day, each up-rated with 1900 CIP 2 c. ochre and 1905/10 2 c. green tied by 'Tientsin' datestamps. Transferred to French Post Office in Tientsin (Jan 3, 1910) and thence to Vienna.
1923 (July 13): Postcard sent registered to Germany franked on viewside with 1st Peking ½ c. sepia, 1½ c. violet, 10 c. blue and pair of 1923 surcharged 2 c. on 3 c. blue-green all tied by 'Tientsin' cds's. Reverse with registration label handstamped in red, Shanghai transit cds and Berlin arrival.
1928 (Oct 4): Junk 1 c. orange on yellowish postal stationery card sent registered from Peking to Francis Field in UK, up-rated with 2nd Peking printing 1 c. orange-yellow and two 7 c. violet all tied by 'Peping (20' datestamps. Registration label tied at base and reverse with Sutton Coldfield arrival (Oct 23).
1929: 3 c. blue-green postal stationery envelope sent registered airmail from Nanking to Shanghai, up-rated with marginal Second Peking 1923 7 c. violet and 1929 Airmail 15 c. black & blue green neatly tied. Scarce.
1931: Sun Yat-sen 4 c. green, second issue with thick inner circle, a corner marginal example from upper left of sheet showing a dramatic pre-printing paper fold and leaving a 5 mm square blank space at top left of stamp, neatly tied by 'Tientsin' datestamp. Rare and very fine variety on cover.
1935 (Oct 17): Sun Yat-sen 1 c. brown-orange postal stationery card sent registered to France, up-rated with 2nd Peking 15 c. deep blue pair and 1st SYS 1 c. orange tied by 'Shanghai' cds's with registration label alongside.

French Post Offices. 1903 (Dec 11): Postcard sent registered to Paris franked by 1902-06 5 c. green and 30 c. mauve tied by bold strikes of HAN-KEOU-CHINE / POSTES FRANCAISE datestamps in black with repeated strike at left and framed 'R'. Scarce.
French Post Offices. 1906 (May 29): 'Chine' 10 c. black on greenish stationery card sent registered to Bonn, Germany additionally franked by 1902-06 10 c. carmine and Merson 50 c. brown & lavender cancelled by 'Tien-Tsin-Chine/Poste Francaise' datestamps with registration cachet and octagonal LIGNE N / PAQ. FR. No. 5 Paquebot datestamp (June 8) alongside. Scarce.
German Post Offices. 1898 (Nov 3): Diagonally optd 10 pf. rose red postal stationery card sent registered to Germany and up-rated with March 1898 diagonally overprinted 20 pf. ultramarine tied by SHANGHAI cds's. Registered label at upper left and Erfurt arrival cds (Dec 8). An attractive usage.
German Post Offices during the Boxer War 19001: Group of five cards, two cards with "Tongku" cds on Feldpost usages, one superb with grisly card showing beheaded Boxers, two further cards with rectangular "S. B. / Ostas. Exped. / I. Bat. 6 Inf-Regmts" cachet and "K. D. Feldpostexped. / Des / Ostasiatischen / Expedition Corps" datestamps, another with datestamp only. Some imperfections but an interesting group.
German Post Offices. 1902 (Aug 25): Horizontally ovptd 10 pf. rose on buff postal stationery card sent registered from Peking to USA and up-rated with 1901 20 pf. ultramarine, trivial ageing, tied by PEKING cds in black. Registered label at top and 'Saint Paul' transit cds at left (Sept 22). Vancouver transit cds on reverse of a fine card.
German Post Offices. 1904 (Feb 11): Horizontally ovptd 10 pf. carmine postal stationery card sent registered to Wiesbaden with additional March 1901 20 pf. ultramarine tied by TSCHINWANGTAU cds's. Registered label at left and Wiesbaden arrival cds ((Marrch 9) on reverse. Slight scuff on card at left but scarce.
German Post Offices. 1911 (Sept 23): Postcard (real photo, possibly of sender) sent registered from Hankow to Denmark via Siberia, franked by 1906 4 c. on 10 pf. carmine and 10 c. on 20 pf. ultramarine and registration label all tied by HANKAU datestamps in black. Label with slight contemporary tear otherwise a fine and unusual usage.
Italian Post Office in Peking. 1918 (May 4): Postcard from Peking to Fermo, Italy sent regsitered with optd 'Pechino' 1918 5 c. green and 10 c. carmine used with 'Tientsin' ovpd 20 c. orange (rare) all tied by fine strikes of 'R. R. POSTE ITALIANE / PECHINO-CINA' datestamps in black. Handstamped registered label at left and repeated fine strike of the datestamp at base of card. Bologna Censor handstamp in black and Bologna arrival (July 7) on viewside of card. Card with minor bend but most appealing and very rare.
Italian Post Office in Tientsin 1922 (Aug 12): Registered cover to USA bearing 1918/19 1 c. on 2 c. red brown pair, 8 c. on 20 c. orange and 10 c. on 25 c. blue (Sassone 16+19+20) tied by good strikes of 'R.R. POSTE ITALIANE / TIENTSIN-CINA' datestamps with fine Italian P.O. registration cachet in black alongside and scarce RR. PP. ITALIANE - TIENTSIN / NON MULTABILE / AFFRANCATURA SECONDO TARIFFA / POSTE CINESI in violet. Reverse with further Tientsin cds and Brindisi transit cds. Extremely fine cover and very rare.
Italian Post Office in Tientsin. 1922 (Aug 12): Registered cover to USA bearing 1918/19 40 c. on 1 lire brown & green (Sassone 22) tied by good strike of R.R. POSTE ITALIANE / TIENTSIN-CINA datestamp with repeated strike at left and fine Italian P.O. registration cachet in black alongside. Reverse with Brindisi transit cds (Sept 29), Chicago datestamps (Oct 16) in violet and Greenville arrival cds. An extraordinarily scarce issue on letter and very fine.
Japanese Post Offices. 1901 (March 20): Japan 4 s. dull violet postal stationery card sent registered to Lyon franked by Japan Koban 8 s. purple-brown, 1899-1900 5 s. grey, 1½ s, ultramarine and 1900 Wedding 3 s. carmine all neatly tied by SHANGHAI-IJPO datestamps in black, with manuscript registration label above. French P.O. in Shanghai cds and Paquebot datestamp also on front of a charming card.
Russian Post Offices. 1903: Cover from Liu Kung Tau / Wei Hai Wei endorsed 'via Chefoo, Port Arthur & Moscow' to Birkenhead, UK franked by 'Kitai' 1 k. yellow pair, 3 k. red and 5 k. violet (3) all tied by CHEFOO Russian P.O. datestamps in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 503), the reverse with rare LIU KUNG TAU / WEI HAI WEI despatch datestamp in violet (only recorded used in 1903), Russian 'Postal Wagon No. 262' (serial no. 7) of the Chinese Eastern Railway (Sept 29) in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 664) and Birkenhead arrival cds (Oct 30). A few envelope wrinkes but a rare usage.
Russian Post Offices. 1903 (June 27): Postcard sent registered to Denmark franked by 'Kitai' overprinted 3 k. red in a horizontal strip of three and single 5 k. mauve all tied by Russian P.O. in Shanghai datestamps (Tchilinghirian fig. 493) and by Copenhagen arrival cds. Registration label at left and violet registration cachet below. Correctly rated (4 k. postage + 10 k. registration). A most unusual usage.
Russian Post Offices. 1908 (May 26): 'Kitai' 4 k. red on buff postal stationery card sent registered to Kegel, Russia up-rated with 'Kitai' overprinted 1 k., 4 k. and 5 k. to pay registration, all tied by Cyrillic only SHANGHAI datestamps (Tchilinghirian fig. 497) with violet 'R' of registration and label at left.
1937: 5th Founding of the State-12 mint sets (Gi = £ 350+), 1937 Five Year Plan set of four mint (20 sets = Gi £ 1'800), Japan's Rights set of 6 values mint (2), later issues in quantities in multiples; China with 1945 Military Post and optd. examples in large multiples, 1945 President Chiang Kai-shek set of six mint (25+ sets, Gi = £ 750+), later with Indo China issues in large multiples, German P.O. in China etc. A fine and most interesting lot.
Taiwan 1950/79c.: Collection of covers/cards in green album (88) with usages from Koxinga issue onwards, some interesting frankings with Airmail, Registered usages etc.
Taiwan 1965/78c.: Dealer's stock in large quantity with, for example, 2'350 examples in sheets of 1967 $ 1 blue (Gi. 599/Mi. 631); 500+ of 1967 $ 1 black (Gi. 610/Mi. 632), 1968 3 y. Swans Miniature Sheet (5) and some later sheets in same quantity, enormous amount of stamps in Post Office fresh condition, diligent sorting would certainly repay. Owner's cat.
