    1857: Entire letter from Quebec to Veuve Cliquot in Rheims, France endorsed "per English Mail" and further endorsed "10d." at top right prepaid, struck with "QUEBEC / L.C." despatch cds (Aug 25) in black and carried on Cunard Steamer "Canada" from Boston. London arrival cds on reverse (Sept 7) in red and struck there with framed "GB / 3F 02c." accountancy marking in black. Calais entry marking on front and handstruck '12' décimes charge marking in black. Rare.

    1859: ABN 1 c. pale rose (2, one originally applied over edge of cover) and 5 c. deep red pair, used on 1868 "Queen's Hotel, Toronto" illustrated advertising cover from Toronto to Paris all tied by barred obliterators in black. Toronto cds of despatch at left (Feb 12) and carried from Portland on Allan Line Steamer "Hibernian". Short paid to GB only with two line "PAID ONLY / TO ENGLAND" in black and manuscript "Under Paid" in blue crayon at top. Struck in London (Feb 27) with oval framed "GB / 40c." accountancy marking in black, thence via Calais where charged '10' décimes due in manuscript. A rare and most attractive cover.

    1870/74: Canada Small Queen 1 c. orange, 3 c. deep rose-red, perf. 12, single and a horizontal pair used on 1874 cover to Paris tied by Montreal duplexes (July 14) in black. Manuscript "Insufficiently prepaid" in red ink at left; thence via London (July 27) with red cds on reverse and framed "GB / 2F.-" accountancy marking applied in black. Struck on arrival with handstruck '12' décimes charge marking for double rate, the original franking being ignored: tariff of 1 July 1871. Small imperfections but a fine and most unusual cover.

    1870/74: Canada Small Queen 3 c. deep rose-red, perf. 12, two horizontal pairs used on small 1874 cover to Paris tied by Montreal duplexes (May 12) in black. Manuscript "Insufficiently prepaid" in red ink at left; thence via London (May 27) with red cds on reverse and framed "GB / 2F.-" accountancy marking applied in black. Noted at '9' grams in manuscript at right and struck on arrival with handstruck '12' décimes charge marking for double rate, the original franking being ignored: tariff of 1 July 1871. A fine and most unusual cover.

    1892/94: Cover and card, with Canada Small Queen 1889/97 2 c. blue-green and 3 c. pale vermilion on attractive 1892 underpaid envelope to France from Quebec (Feb 20) with circular "T/25" handstamp adjacent, taxed on arrival at double the deficiency with 1881/92 Postage Due 5 c. black and three 15 c. black (Maury T12+T16) tied by Bagneres de Luchon datestamps (March 7), together with Canada 1 c. postal stationery card to a restaurant in Paris, underpaid 4 c. on despatch, taxed on arrival with Postage Due 1881/92 30 c. black and 1893 10 c. brown (Maury T18+T29), unusual but with some staining.
