    RMSP 1848 (Jan 4): Entire letter written at Cayenne, Guyane Française, to Bordeuax, endorsed "par le Packet anglais de Demerara" carried privately to Demerara and struck with double "DEMERARA" cds in black (Jan 11). Carried on the RMSP "Reindeer" to Barbados, thence by the "Tay" to Southampton. Struck with framed "Colonies / &c. Art. 13" in red and mss. "2/-" in London (Feb 24) and thence via Boulogne to Bordeaux where charged '20' décimes due.

    RMSP 1842 (Feb 25): Entire letter from Brechin to Demerara, British Guiana endorsed "prepaid" and franked with 1841 1 d. red-brown, lettered EB, touched to ample margins, tied by Maltese Cross in black with manuscript "P 11d." for remaining portion of the rate. Framed "Brechin" despatch datestamp (Feb 25) in black and 'Paid' transit (Feb 26) in red. Internal docketing of receipt (March 30). Carried on RMSP "Trent" who handed over the Demerara Mails in Tobago to "HMS Gleaner", arriving March 29. The letter states how disappointed the writer was with the December reports of the Sugar Crop. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 160. A magnificent entire, the earliest recorded stamped cover to South America bearing an adhesive Postage Stamp. Cert. B. Moorhouse (2016).rnProvenance: D.     RMSP 1850 (May 31): Cover from Birmingham to Amsterdam Estate, Leguan, Demerara, British Guiana endorsed "By West India Mail Packet", franked by 1841 2 d. blue, plate 3, horizontal strip of six, lettered SA-SF, clear to large margins all round and of outstanding fresh colour, tied by "75" numeral obliterators in black. Reverse with Birmingham despatch cds in blue (May 31) and London transit cds in red (June 1). Carried on the RMSP Steamer "Tay" to Bermuda (June 18), thence on the "Medway" to St. Thomas (June 22) and "Eagle" to Demerara arriving on June 30. The sole recorded strip of six 1841 2d. blue used to South America in private hands. Cert. B.     RMSP 1871: Cover (crest of the West India Regiment on reverse) from Georgetown to Worthing, franked by single 1866/71 24 c. yellow-green, perf. 10, tied by "GEORGETOWN / B. GUIANA / A03" duplex in black. Carried on the RMSP "Arno" to St. Thomas, thence by the "Elbe" to Southampton with Worthing arrival cds (Jan 11, 1872). Readdressed to London with 1864/79 1 d. red tied by bold "Worthing / 923" duplex in black (Jan 20). Some wrinkles but an attractive and unusual cover.     RMSP 1875: Cover from Georgetown to London, franked by single 1866/71 8 c. pink and 24 c. yellow-green, perf. 10, tied by blurred "A03" obliterators and by "Registered / London"* oval of arrival (Aug 28) in red. Manuscript "Registered" in red crayon at left and docket numbers, reverse with "Georgetown / B. Guiana" cds of despatch (Aug 5) in black. Carried on the RMSP "Eider" to St. Thomas, thence by the "Moselle" to Plymouth. London arrival cds (Aug 28) on reverse of a fine and rare cover. Reverse with complete red wax seal "BRITISH GUIANA / POST OFFICE GEORGETOWN". A very early registered usage. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 162. Opinion Holcombe (1988).

GUIANA / A03" duplex in black (Oct 23). Carried on the RMSP "Eider" to St. Thomas, thence by the "Atrato" to Southampton (where she was quarantined due to yellow fever on board). 'London / Paid' arrival cds (Nov 16) in red at left. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 163. Part of top flap missing but a most attractive cover.
