    1842: Registered cover sent prepaid from Cuenca to Loja, struck with oval framed CUENCA / DE / OFICIO and good strike of rare "Certificacion à Cuenca / Salio en 29 de Maio de 1842" both struck in red, the latter with date inserted in manuscript (Harris types 8+10). Receipted on June 1st, a fine and attractive cover.

Inside addressed from Ybarra to Quito with some docketing; a surprisingly scarce marking used in the pre-philatelic era and well struck.

A scarce and most attractive assembly.

    1894: Rocafuerte 1 c. blue (3) and 5 c. green (2), used on 1895 registered postcard addressed to Otto von Bismarck at Friedrichsruh, Germany as a celebration on his 80th Birthday - with colour picture of von Bismarck on the viewside, the adhesives all cancelled at Guayaquil with New York transit registered label and Friedrichsruh arrival cds (April 26), arriving 25 days after his Birthday. Colourful and most unusual.
