Small opening tears at top and the adhesive with insignificant file fold but very scarce.rnNote: The Lima - Chorillos Railway Line was completed in December 1858, with mail accepted from January 1859. Mail to Chorillos with a 'trencito' is significantly scarcer than that carried on the main Lima - Callao line.

    1874/76: 10 c. green, a single example used on 1877 cover to Bordeaux tied by IQUIQUE / PERU cds (May 25) with "Callao" British P.O. cds on reverse. Three line dated PANAMA / TRANSIT in black (May 28) and trans-shipped there to French Packet with octagonal "PANAMA / PAQ. FR. A No. 3" datestamp (June 1) well struck in black (Salles fig. 1413) and carried on "St. Germain" to Bordeaux (June 24). Taxed with triangular "T" marking and charged '15' décimes due. Overall soiling but scarce - Peru lost Iquique to Chile in 1879.

Printing Works, Paris engraved in unissued colour of grey-green on sunken card (circa 125 x 132 mm.), showing vignette of José María Dávila Condemarín, together with a small piece with Dávila's signature.rnNote: José María Dávila Condemarín (1799-1882), Peruvian writer, politician and diplomat. Signatory of the Declaration of Peruvian Independence in 1821. He was at various intervals Minister of Foreign Relations, Chancellor of Peru and in 1849 in charge of the Peruvian Post Office.

    1928 (Dec. 19): VUELO LIMA NUEVA YORK via BUENOS AIRES, pioneer flight cover carried by the Peruvian pilots Cpt. Carlos Pinillos and Lieut.Carlos Zegarra (Navigator) carried on the leg Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires, franked with Chile 25 c. and tied by Santiago Maritima handstamp backstamped Buenos Aires same day, signed by both pilots. In addition 1929 original press photo: 'Peruvian Consul greets Flyers'  as well as part set of four picture postcards (Set I cards 1+4) and Set II (cards 3+8) cards, honouring the 1911 first official flight by Juan Bielovucic from Santa Beatriz over Lima and Callao above the Pacific coast.

    1927/42: The magnificent eight frame exhibition collection of PERUVIAN AIRMAILS 1928-1942 with over 200 covers displayed on 126 album pages showing both the development of air routes with the focus on the different rates including First Flights, starting with Domestic Airmails, the so called 'Jungle Route', with covers (14) carried on differing legs and at diff. rates as 1927 (Dec. 29) first flight Lima to Iquitos, signed photocard of Elmer J. Faucett in front of his aircraft, 1928 incoming mail from London to Iquitos, 1929 San Ramon to Iquitos air route, 1930 one of only three known Trans-Amazonas flight covers from Iquitos to Manaus (Brazil), 1928 Coastal Route with first flight Lima - Paita, 1929/31 triple weight or stationery card usage to Chiclayo,1937 Faucett Air Crash (3), 1929 Northern South Air Service with expansion to Central America Air Service with 1928 Scadta Survey flight plus 1929/31 Scadta usages (6).     Pacific War 1883: Arequipa Provisional 25 c. rose-carmine, overprinted "Provisional / 1881-1882" in black, an unused sheet of fifty subjects (10 x 5), showing the "2" of "25" in upper left corner inverted on position 12, positions 7 and 24 and 25 showing one top value tablet blank, positions 17, 18, and 48 with "2" of "25" missing, full margins all round and of good colour, some typical imperfections with worm holes as usual but an attractive and rare sheet.

    Pacific War 1877: Chile 10 c. blue and 1878 50 c. lilac in an imprint horizontal pair, used on 1883 cover to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome cancelled during the Occupation of Lima by 'Lima / Principal' cds's (Oct 30) in black. Circular Italian Legation in Lima cachet in green below and reverse with superb (Consegna type) "LIMA / 4 OTT 83 / CONSOL D'ITALIA" cachet in green alongside Rome arrival cds (Nov 8). Edge wear to the linen envelope and some aging around roulettes but a splendid and rare Occupation franking.

    Pacific War 1880c. Envelope probably mailed from Mollendo, addressed to Valparaiso and struck with fine framed FRANCA in black denoting concessionary free rate, applied over fancy circular "CORBETA CHACABUCO / Anchor / CHILE / HONOR Y PATRIA" in violet. Top flap missing, small imperfections and aging at edges of envelope but rare.rnrnNote: The Chilean corvette Chacabuco was a late 19th-century ship of the Chilean Navy. Commanded by Enrique Simpson in the early 1870s, the ship participated in the exploration of the fjords and archipelagoes of Aysén Region in northern Patagonia. In 1876 'Chacabuco' transported the Governor of Magallanes Diego Dublé Almeyda to the Falkland Islands bringing back sheep, thus initiating the Patagonian sheep farming boom of the late 19th century. From 1879 onwards the corvette fought in the War of the Pacific.

'UPU / Plata / Peru' in red, used on 7 May 1881 cover to Matrei, Austria endorsed 'Via Panama per mala alemana', with complete original contents written in German, mailed with oval framed POZUZO despatch in black, the adhesives tied in transit by "PASCO / PRAL." datestamps (Aug 9). Reverse with 'Lima / Pral' cds (Aug 12), London cds in red (Sept 19) and unclear arrival cds. Some wear as to be expected with Wartime conditions but a remarkable and rare cover.
