    Austrian Occupation of the Danubian Principalities during the Crimean War 1854/57: Cover from Austrian Fieldpost office in Jassy with extensive honorific address to Alfons Graf von Wimpffen in Bucharest, franked with 1850 9 kr. blue type IIIb on handmade paper, tied by "FELDPOST No 2 13/4" cds (Müller 3443a = 600 points; Tchilinghirian fig. 756) well struck in black, the place of despatch noted as "Jassy" in manuscript. Reverse with arrival cds "K.K.FELDPOSTAMT No 1 16/4" (Müller 3436b = 600 points; Tchilinghirian fig. 712) of the Bucharest Fieldpost, an extraordinary and stunning cover. The addressee Alfons Maximilian Graf von Wimpffen (born 1828 in Hietzing nearby Vienna; died 1866 in the battle of Nachod against the Prussians) was an Austrian Colonel and commander of the infrantery regiment no. 20.     Romania 1866 (April 11): Registered entire letter from Bucarest to Klagenfurt, franked on front with 1864 15 soldi brown and on reverse with 10 soldi blue (split upon opening), each tied by oval "BUKAREST RECOMMANDIRT 11/4" datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 716), reverse with Pesth transit and arrival cds's.     Lebanon 1871 (Aug 14): Entire letter from Beirut to Genova at 23 soldi rate, franked with 1867 3 soldi green, 5 s. red and 15 s. brown, coarse whiskers, all tied by Berutti cds in blackish brown (Tchilinghirian/Tranmer fig. 3) with transits of Lloyd Agenzie/Smirne on reverse (Aug 18) and Brindisi and Genova Aug 25) cds's alongside.     1871 (March 11): Cover from Canea to Syra/Greece, franked with 1867 10 soldi blue tied by two line dated Canea handstamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 533) well struck in red. Taxed on arrival in Syra with Greece Large Hermes 20 lepta blue on blueish paper just tied by neat cds. An extraordinary cover, the Canea handstamp being very rare struck in red (unlisted by Tchilinghirian). Signed A. Diena and Colla; cert.
