    1928: Ile-de-France 10 fr. on Berthelot 90 c. red, surcharge inverted, the famous cover front addressed to Le Havre franked additonally by Sower 50 c. pale orange and strip of three 1 fr. blue all tied by octagonal 'New York Au Havre-D' datestamps (Aug 23) in black with six line 'Ile-de-France' cachet in black at left. Some minor edge wear to envelope front but a great rarity for the Airmail specialist. Signed Calves; cert. Brun (2002) Maury 3a = € 20'000 (as used, € 75'000 for cover)/Yvert = € 20'000+.

    Ile de France 10 fr. sur 90 c. rouge avec variété: surcharge renversée avec affranchissement complémentaire sur devant de lettre oblit. New York au Havre (23.8.28) pour le Havre. Cachet de l'Ile de France à gauche. Bords du devant de la lettre quelque peu irréguliers. Une grande rareté pour le collectionneur de poste aérienne.

    1928: 'Ile-de-France' Catapult Flight registered cover, multi-franked by Decorative Arts set of six, Berthelot 90 c. red and rare '10 FR.' on Pasteur 1 fr. 50 c. blue, with variety 'Surcharge Espacée' (8 mm. instead of 6 mm. between '1' and second bar), all tied by octagonal 'New York Au Havre' datestamps (23/8) and by six line "Ile-de-France" cachet in black with New York (31/8) arrivals on reverse.     French Post Offices in Cochin China 1872/77: Cérès 4 c. pearl grey on yellowish (gris sur jaunâtre), a superb horizontal pair of excellent fresh colour and large marginas all round, used on 1877 cover to New York tied by COCHIN CHINE / SAIGON  dotted datestamp (Jan. 1) in black. A famous and wonderful cover of impeccable provenance. Cert. Calves (2000).
    Note: The John Levett FRPSL collection (Harmers, Zurich, November 1988), contained a very similar cover addressed to Amsterdam on the same day (lot 403).
    Cérès 4 c. gris en paire oblit. cachet perlé Cochinchine Saigon (1 jan. 77) sur pli pour New York. Superbe et très rare.

FRANCAIS datestamp at left (May 29), framed 'PD' in red and reverse with Lyon arrival cds (July 22). Despite the fault a scarce cover.
