    1881 (July 1): 3 c. grey bistre-brown on pale bistre, plate I, imperforate, two single used examples with 2 c. violet and two 1 c. vermilion on yellowish horizontal pair, contemporary fault at base, used on 1883 cover front from Jeremie (Jan 4) paying the single rate to London; cancelled in transit by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's (Jan 9) in blue-black. The sole recorded example of this franking to pay the 10 cent rate.
