1881 (July 1): 2 c. slate-purple on pale lilac, plate I, imperforate, an unused tête-bêche block of four (positions 49-50 / 41-42), marginal from right of sheet and separated by 28 mm. interpanneau margin (sheet 1-B), of lovely fresh appearance and colour, typical horizontal crease through the interpanneau margin, large part or unmounted og. One of just three blocks of four of this variety remaining, another in this collection and the other (the James Abbott block , later Hubbard, which was in the Dr. Guy Dutau collection sold at Soler y Llach in Jan 2019, the other Abbott block (lot 624) was split into pairs). Just 13 pairs recorded in total.
