    1881 (July 1): 1 c. vermilion on yellowish, plate I, variety perf. 13½, the famous perforated example with part og., position 18, discovered and first recorded by J.R.W. Purves (Collectors Club Philatelist, Vol 52, no. 3, page 163). The printer evidently included a left-over Plate I sheet with plate II sheets when perforated. Whilst other examples should exist, none, as far as this describer is aware, have been forthcoming since the publication of Edition D'Or 50. Rare.rnrnProvenance: Collection J.R.W. Purves.
