    1883: De La Rue stamp-size Essay for the proposed 4 d. value, completely hand-painted in the issued colour of carmine and pale on card (84 x 100 mm.), with WESTERN AUSTRALIA POSTAGE around Swan vignette. Alternative value tablets hand-painted below: One Penny, Two Pence, Six Pence and I Shilling also in carmine. Illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton on page 6536.
