1848 (Feb 2): Official cover to the Colonial Secretary in Sydney (Edward Deas Thomson at this date), struck with fine octagonal framed "SCONE / FREE" in red-brown ink. Manuscript "Scone Febry. 2/48" at right and reverse with circular "GENERAL POST OFFICE / ♚ / FE 5 / 1848 / SYDNEY" datestamp in black.
