Samoa 1860/72: Diadem 6 d. violet, perf. 12, a used example on 7 March 1868 entire letter written from Malua, Samoa to the Reverend Henry Nisbet of Samoa in London, initially carried by hand and mailed, tied by "Sydney / NSW" duplex (July 6) with 'London / Paid' arrival in red (Sept 11) at left. Central file fold well away from the adhesive. Interesting chatty contents "I wrote to you at 'Pahville' and it left Apia three days ago in the French War Steamer "Coetwyn"...for New Caledonia and Sydney....coconuts bound for Vancouver Island"..and visits made to local villages and islands.
