    1851 (April): 2 d. dull ultramarine, Plate V, a horizontal pair, positions 22-23 with huge margins all round, on Evans correspondence entire letter at double rate to Albury cancelled by neat strikes of "48" numeral obliterators in black. Reverse with oval "TARCUTTA / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" datestamp of despatch (May 30) in black. Interesting content: "Sydney is in a state of excitement consequent upon the discovery of Gold mined to the westward of Bathurst and it is expected all goods and produce will rise in price, perhaps to an extravagant price...". Cover #161 in the Ben Palmer census, illustrated on page 154.
