Correspondence from Moldavia to Wallachia 1860 (March 15): Registered Cover from Jassy, Moldavia via Galatz to Braila in Wallachia bearing Moldavia 1858 80 pa. vermilion on white paper, a fresh and fine adhesive with good to large margins and vivid colour, tied by oval FRANCO JASSY datestamp (Kiriac fig. 311) in red, RECEPISSE and "JASSY MOLDOVA 15 / 3" cds (Kiriac fig. 279), both in red alongside. Reverse with transit "GALATZ MOLDOVA 17 / 3" cds (Kiriac fig. 277) in blue. Horizontal and vertical filing folds well away from stamp and postmark, nevertheless a fine and scarce item. Signed Pfenniger; handwritten opinion Heimbüchler (2003); cert. Gmach (2020).rnNote: The 80 pa. stamp pays fully the postage of 40 püa. plus 40 pa. for the registration fee in Moldavia. As Moldavian stamps were not valid in Wallachia, additional postage had to be paid in cash, either by the sender upon despatch or lateron along the journey. This is an extremely rare usage, maybe unique.
