    Syria 1862: 80 c. carmine rose, five examples, used on 1869 cover at quadruple rate from Marseille to Aleppo, Syria tied by 2240 gros chiffres with Marseille despatch cds (May 8) below. Reverse with French Post Offices 'Smyrne / Turquie' (May 11) and 'Alexandrette / Syrie' cds (May 20) and Turkey 1865 Postage Due 1 pi. brown, 2 pi. brown and vertical strip of four 5 pi. pale grey-brown all perf. 13½, individually tied by fine strikes of all-arabic framed 'Halep 81' Aleppo handstamps in blue (Michel P12Aa/P14Aa).
