    Ballon Monté 1871 (Jan 7): Printed 'Gazette Des Absents No. 22' dated January 3, and letter written on January 7, addressed care of the Khedive in Cairo, Egypt franked by 1870 Siège 40 c. orange tied by '11' Paris Star with 'Paris / Rue St. Honoré' datestamp in black adjacent with third levée time code changed in manuscript to '6', with two strikes of framed PD in red on front, probably flown by the 55th Ballon Monté 'Le Duquesne'. Reverse with partial Avignon TPO datestamp (Jan 21), and 'Le Caire / Bau. Francais' datestamp of receipt (Jan 27). A magnificent entire to a very scarce destination for Ballon mail. Cert. Extremely fresh and fine with full original gum and "New York Au Havre / D" datestamp lightly applied on reverse (23.8.28) in black. A delightful and extremely rare multiple for the specialist, cert.
