    1847: Embossed 1 s. green, Die W.W.1, an unused example of outstanding colour and freshness, sheet marginal at base with margins ample to large all round, variety "Two Silk Threads 20 mm. Apart", immaculate condition with single hinge remnant at top on otherwise full original gum. A truly wonderful stamp; sold to Lady Joan Joicey in November 1932 and still accompanied by Charles Nissen's original letter "I am submitting herewith for your inspection a 1/- octagonal, thread each side, an extremely rare item. There is only one other copy known, and I am not quite sure whether Captain Grainger has it or whether it is in the Royal collection...The price is £ 17. 10 s.". Unique in private hands, an unused pair is housed in the Reginald Phillips cxollection in the National Postal Museum, volume XXX, page 18. Magnificent and of the greatest rarity. Cert. A magnificent multiple of great rarity. Cert. As far as one can determine this block was sold in a Puttick & Simpson sale of 29-30 October 1901 in London; still as a block of six SJ-SL / Tj-TL. The 'missing' vertical pair SJ/TJ has not been recorded since.

Crown CC 1864/76: (1 d.) black, four examples and a single 1 s. orange, perf. 14, used on 1877 cover to Paris, all tied by "A11" obliterators of Castries in black with double arc ST. LUCIA cds of despatch below (June 28). Manuscript '1/½d.' in red crayon at left and thence via London (July 12) with red cds of transit, Paris arrival on reverse. The third 1 d. black shows the position 205 major re-entry over AGE of POSTAGE and probably represents the sole such usage on letter. A magnificent and rare cover.
