Repeated strike of the datestamp at top and framed P.D. in black at right. File fold below the adhesive, and reverse with Venice (Oct 5) arrival datestamp. An exceedingly rare cover with the adhesive in use for just 2½ months, with just 8 letters bearing this stamp recorded in the Heimbüchler census and perhaps just 10 all told. Adhesives tied by neat strikes of "Recommandirt / Wien" datestamps in red (July 25) with reverse showing Czernowitz transit cds in black (27/7) and Austrian P.O. datestamp JASSY on reverse in blue (29/7). The letter would then have been picked up by a retainer of the Stourdza family for delivery to Waslui. A fresh and fine cover in excellent condition. Oval blue Com,pany cachet underneath the 10 pa. adhesive (Zarigrad = Constantinople) and small manuscrript "5" in red crayon possibly being a Ship's Captain's fee or representing 5 bani credit to the local Office in Braila. Slight cover tear at top and with flap missing on reverse but an extremely rare franking. Only 8 covers bearing T. B. Morton adhesives are recorded and just 4 with the 'Letter' adhesive. Greek Post Office 1863: Cover from Braila to Athens struck on front with outstanding strike of Greek P.O. "IBRAILA / VLACHIA" datestamp of despatch in blue (Sept 14), addressed to Durutti in Athens and struck on reverse with Piraeus transit cds. Manuscript "110" lepta to pay in red crayon and franked by Large Hermes 1862/67 2nd Athens printing 10 lep. orange on bluish, 20 lep. blue and 80 lep carmine all tied by Athens datestamps (Sept 23). Offered Tel quel! Stamps lifted and fixed again to envelope, 10 lep. orange missplaced 3 mm to the left. New certificate Simmermacher 2013. A delightful and rare cover. Endorsed "via Varna" at upper left the reverse shows transits of Bucharest, Galatz, Constantinople and Piraeus; and charged for local delivery with Greece March 1875 40 lepta black & green Postage Due (Mi 6) tied by dotted "1" numeral in black. An exceptional and most unusual cover - only a small time period of possible usage as both countries joined the UPU in July 1875.
