1867: 20 pa. very deep brown, a fine horizontal pair on May 1868 entire letter from Sarajevo to Brood, tied by circular all arabic "Bosna" handstamps in blue (Coles & Walker fig. 4). Interestingly, both adhesives show partial printing flaw at the top of each stamp with colour loss at the top of the oval. Slight cover fault of no importance on front, a great rarity on letter.

1877: Registered cover from Mauthausen to the Doctor to His Majesty the Sultan in the Yildiz Palace in Constantinople, franked by 1867/74 5 kr. red and 15 kr. brown tied by 'Mauthhausen' single ring cds (Nov 28) in black. On arrival the cover was charged by the City Post for local delivery with 1866 Liannos Post Postage Due 10 paras black on yellow label with additional manuscript "1" (piastre) notation as the cover was not collected by the addressee (Foreign Post Offices within Turkey were not allowed to deliver mail direct). Manuscript notation at top "Reçu en Decembre 1877" and reverse with Austrian P.O. Constantinopel cds and Turkish Constantinople cds in blue (Dec 8). The six pieces all show the handstamp applied on the adhesives and five of the pieces show a further strike of the provisional overprint, all are tied by Feké datestamps for March 17, 1920 in black. 1922 (Aug): 5 pi. blue, handstamped on toned 'pad' paper with octagonal design (23 x 20 mm.) reading "Posta / Besh (Five) / G (Guerche-Piastres), a fine unused example of this rare Provisional Isfila YP282.
Note: Akpinar is a small mountainous village 40 North East of Afyon, the Turkish 6th Army Forces were gathering to attack the Greeks (August 22, and followed through the successul attack to Izmir by September 9). Stamps had run short at Field Post Offices # 46, 95 and 102; especially the 5 piastres value as Officer's mail had to be franked. A reserve Officer, one Nedjin Bey, under orders from the Chief of Staff of the 16th Infantry Division, Nihat Bey, prepared a rubber handstamp so that stamps of 5 piastres were available. Supplies from Ankara arrived in the middle of August and the stocks of the Provisional were burnt, with an estimated 200 examples having been sold.Ausruf : 300 CHFZuschlag : 300 CHFLosnr. : 2307 Türkei
