Mailed to Ambérieu, Ain, reverse with arrival cds of the same day. Lightest vertical file fold of no importance, a very fine and fresh adhesive on attractive small-sized cover, a perfect stamp well documenting the very early usage of the first French stamp. Two circulars by the Postal administration led to confusion in the Post Offices on the methods of obliteration. 1870: Cover from Abbeville to Hesdin, Pas-de-Calais in the zone occupied by German troops, bearing a horizontal pair of Bordeaux 10 c. bistre report 1, a fine and fresh multiple with large to enormous margins all round, tied by Petits Chiffres des Gros Chiffres '1' numeral lozenge, light despatch cds (March 14, 71) alongside. The obverse was also struck with "TAXE ALLEMANDE" handstamp and taxed with '2' (décimes) upon arrival. Reverse with Arras transit and arrival (March 16) cds's.
