Additionally franked by France 1870 Siège 40 c. orange, a single and horizontal strip of four, all tied by octagonal "LA GUAYRA" Consular datestamps (July 19) in black (Salles fig. 1374). Carried on the Ligne E "Cacique" to Fort de France and Ligne B "Ville de Brest" to Vera Cruz where charged at triple inland rate "75 c." due in black. No. 4" substituted (Sept 30) in b lack (Salles fig. 1432). Initially carried on Ligne E "Desirade" to Fort de France and thence by Ligne B "Ville de Brest" to St. Nazaire. Carried on the RMSP "Neva" from St. Thomas with London transit cds on reverse (May 12) in red and manuscript charge "1/3d." in ink. Reverse with "Aus ENGLAND / Per AACHEN" transit (May 12) in blue and arrival cds of the following day, charged '16' ngr. due. A magnificent and rare usage, very few "yellows" are recorded on letter, Everaldo Santos AIEP recorded just 6 covers (one was in the 'Gregory Frantz' sale in January 2021 in Corinphila).
