    Martinique 1859: General issues, Eagle 10 c. bistre, 20 c. blue and 40 c. orange, fair to good margins all round, fresh colours, tied by 'MQE' lozenge to entire letter to Marseille, obverse with "MARTINIQUE St PIERRE 26 JANV 71" cds in black, framed PD in red and French entry mark "COLONIES FRA. ANGL. 18 FEVR. 71" in blue, reverse with Marseille arrival cds (Feb 21). An attractive cover depicting the 1865 letter rate to France.

    Martinique 1871/72: Laureated 30 c. brown and 1871 Cérès 40 c. pale orange, each with large margins all round, used on 1872 cover to Le Havre tied by MQE lozenge of dots in black. St. Pierre despatch cds at right (April 11) and circular 'Col. Fr. / Angl. Amb. Calais' cds (April 29). Paid for single rate only and found to be double ('2' at upper left in manuscript), struck with AFFRANCHISEMENT / INSUFFISANT in red and charged '7' décimes due upon receipt. A fine and scarce cover.     Réunion 1871/77: Cérès 5 c. green on greenish in a vertical pair with single 40 c. pale orange, all with four margins but trivial ageing, tied by Anchor lozenge of dots to 1875 cover to Bordeaux. 'Reunion / St. Denis' cds at left (Nov 13) and octagonal COL. FR. / PAQ. FR. T No. 2 datestamp in red below (Salles fig. 2147). Reverse with further Paquebot datestamp and Bordeaux arrival cds (Dec 10). An attractive cover. Signed Baudot.

    1871/75: Cérès 80 c. carmine, a fine horizontal pair used on 1875 entire letter to Paris tied by '5084' gros chiffres with LES DARDANELLES / TURQUIE datestamp below (Feb 11). Oval 'BM' (Boîte Mobile) alongside and framed PD in black and erroneous 'Affranchisement / Insuffisant' in black crossed by bars to delete the charge due. Paris arrival (Feb 19) on reverse. Addressee's name excised from cover but scarce and not unattractive. Signed Brun.
