    1867: France Laureated 80 c. carmine (3) used on 1872 cover from Alexandrette to Marseille, all tied by '5079' gros chiffres in black. Pearled ALEXANDRETTE / SYRIE cds at right (Oct 30), thence via Beyrout with transit cds on reverse (Nov 1).  Small cartridge 'Paquebots / De La / Mediterranee' in red and framed PD in black on front. Some removed ageing but scarce.
