Three-colour franking up to 0.5 loth via Sardinia and Switzerland with 30 c. for Lombardia, 20 c. for Sardinia and 60 c. for France, a rare and appealing item. Cert. E. This first print-run was primarily used in 1850, thus this example was postmarked presumably two weaks after issue, a perfect combination of stamp and postmark, highly desirable. Cert. E.     1850: 15 c. vermilion in a hor. pair, the left stamp in type IIa and the right in type I (left stamp with corner bend just mentioned for accuracy), printed on ribbed paper (carta a coste verticali), tied by four-ring "MIRANO 31/7" cds to part letter (upper and lower backflap are missing), sent to Venice with arrival datestamp on reverse. The originally double-weight cover was closed by two St. Andrew's crosses on ribbed paper, the pair shows a handwritten notation "Manutto" in the same handwriting like the address, presumably the name of the sender to prevent theft of the stamps. An interesting item, cert. E. Diena (1985) Ferchenbauer = € 3'000 for the pair on cover.

    1861: Stationery envelope, rectangular cutout 3 so. green with good to large margin all round, very large margin at right in mixed franking with 1863 Imperial Arms definitive 2 so. yellow perf. 14, glued on the large margin of the cutout, both tied by "PADOVA 13/5" (1864) cds to small blueish envelope, sent to Venice with arrival cds and oval distribution handstamp on reverse. An attractive and extremely rare combination, possible between July 1863, when the Arms definitives were issued and May 1864 and the Franz-Joseph definitives became invalid; last possible month.
