    1854: 1 anna deep red, Die I, Stone A, horizontal strip of four with large margins all round, fine used with '258' numeral of Thanesar; showing the flaws from positions 67-70 and illustrated in Dawson on Plate II, however most probably from positions 19-22, being the substituted transfer as the strip bears no trace of the watermark. Slight water stain on first two stamps but a scarce and attractive multiple.

    1856/64: 4 annas black and horizontal pair of 1860 8 p. purple on white paper, used on 1866 cover from Mahé to Bordeaux, all tied by fine strikes of framed 'grill' handstamps in black and by manuscript 'Duly Stamped'. Marseille entry mark in red (Jan 6, 1866) and reverse with Bombay transit and Bordeaux arrival cds's amongst others. Adhesives crossed by file fold but a splendid and rare usage from the French settlement in Mahé.

Reverse with Calcutta cds in red (Dec 28), Aden double arc cds in blue and 'Mauritius' arrival cds (Jan 21) in blue and obverse with fine '1 d. / TO PAY' handstamp in blue. An attractive and scarce usage.

Reverse with Bombay transit and 'Sea Post Office/A' cds (Oct 13) and Zurich arrival (Oct 28), file fold but a rare and attractive usage from this French settlement; also an in-coming 1898 usage with ½ a. green envelope with MAHE cds of arrival (June 14) on reverse.
