    1847: 5 c. red-brown on bluish paper, a magnificent sheet marginal example used on 1849 entire letter to Proctorville, Vermont tied by red handstamp with superb "Burlington / Vt." despatch datestamp below. File fold well away from the adhesive. A superb entire.

    1845 (Oct 7): Entire letter from New York franked by Postmaster's Provisional 5 c. black (two examples) slightly overlapping each initialled "A.C.M." in red manuscript and cancelled by pen in blue; red "New York / 10 Cts."  datestamp at left and figure altered to "5" at left. Left stamp with minor fault in right hand vertical margin, but a most unusual 10 cents franking.

    1848 (April 27): Entire letter from Fort Gibson, Cherokee Nation, mailed pre-paid to Ohio; with manuscript '10 c.' at top and striaght line "PAID" alongside fine (for this) "FORT GIBSON" datestamp (April 30) in black. Fort Gibson guarded the South West corner of the Louisiana Purchase and is now in Oklahoma, but at the time of this letter was in "Indian Territory". Interesting content "the Indians carry their knives and pistols with them and the first one that offends them, they just out with their pistol and shoot him and if that fails then out come the knife...I don't believe there passes a day but that someone is killed either Negro or Indian, they are the most wicked set I ever come across...". A superb and rare entire.

    1852c: Envelope to Heidelberg endorsed "via Havre, paid" in manuscript, with red New York cds at right and straight line PAID ALL and "7" also oin red AMERICA / ÜBER BREMEN in red at top and very rare (possibly unrecorded, applied in Aachen) transit handstamp in italics "Fr. 2 5/12" in red at left. Reverse with "Deutz-Minden" TPO and framed Heidelberg arrival (May 31). Small faults but very unusual cover.

    1855c.: Outer letter sheet to Heidelberg via Liverpool with New York despatch cds (June 30) in black, framed NOT PAID alongside and superb strike of 63/18 R AMERICA / ÜBER / BREMEN in red and manuscript "81" (kreuzers) due on receipt, Reverse with "Deutz-Minden" TPO and framed Heidelberg arrival (July 22). Extremely unusual fully paid usages, both of which open well for Exhibit display.

    1869: 2 c. brown, used with 3 c. ultramarine and 10 c. yellow on 1869 Prussian Closed Mail cover to Flims, Graubründen, Switzerland all tied by segmented cork cancels in black with Chicago despatch cds (Dec 13) alongside. "New York Paid All / Br. Transit" datestamp adjacent in red (Dec 15). Reverse with Basel, Zurich (Dec 27) and Chur datestamps. A delightful and scarce three colour franking paying the 15 cent Closed Mail rate (valid 1868 through 1870).

    1973/2011: The large and comprehensive collection SPACE SHUTTLE MISSIONS, total 1837 cards and covers with forerunners and Test Flights, including a large quantity of stickers (both paper and fabric), photographs of various sizes, information leaflets and advertising booklets, original signatures of all Pilots and Crew members participating in the missions, newspaper clippings and other corresponding material, nicely arranged in 33 SAFE-albums, in two folders and on album pages (special selection referring to the first Swiss astronaut Claude Nicollier), unique as such a unit, a lifetime's work and study, and almost impossible to re-assemble.
