    1843: 60r. black on yellowish paper, early impression, showing outer framelines at top and right, cancelled with neat partial strike of c.d.s., (2 Aug), a lovely stamp in all respects. rnThe "Bulls Eye" stamps of Brazil were issued on August 1, 1843. By the same time the following year, plates were showing significant signs of wear; the "Inclinados" issues were also released in July 1844. While it is possible that this early printing was kept and not used until long after purchase, it is also possible that this 2 August usage is, in fact, from the second day of issue.

    1844/66: Balance of stamps and covers, with 1854-6 30r black block of four, tied to small piece with scarce "Cidade da Estancia" boxed cancel in brown (Juchert certificate), 90r. black tied to small piece by red c.d.s., range of 1850 "Verticais" issues including 30r black block of fifteen on piece, four-margin 60r. singles (10) and a pair struck with charming fancy cancels, several coloured, the pair with centrally-struck "fly" cancel,1854 10r and 30r blue tied to piece with 1861 280r red, 1854 30r blue used block of eight with violet cancellation, three covers including 1854 10r blue single franking with exceptional margins, two 1877 covers with 1866 60r black used in combination with 200r Dom Pedro from Rio de Janeiro to France, these with filing folds or toning affecting adhesives, stamps with the odd fault but cheifly fine, an overall attractive and desirable group.
