1930/31: 2 d. golden scarlet, wmk. Multiple Crown over A, perf. 13½ x 12½, the unused horizontal pair, variety "tête-bêche", of wonderful fresh colour, tiny piece of the gummed paper strip used to secure the pair within the £1 Booklet where it was originally found in 1931 on large part og. The pair is sold with the formal Statutory Declaration dated May 10, 1931 made by the finder, Stanley William George of Malvern, whereupon he states the stamps "were purchased in the ordinary way over the counter at the Elizabeth Street Post Office, Melbourne during the first week of May 1931.....contained in a One Pound (£1) booklet of twopenny stamps and were attached to adjoining stamps on one page of the said booklet by means of gummed paper strips", thereafter reported in the 'Australian Stamp Monthly' in June, 1932. In the foremost quality, entirely unique and an extraordinary rarity of both British Commonwealth and Australian philately. Cert. Commemoratives 1956: Olympic Games 3½ d. carmine-lake, Essay or Unissued, no watermark, perf. 14½ x 14¾, an unused example, fresh and very fine, unmounted og. The stamp had been printed by the Post Office for the basic rate of 3½ d., however the issue coincided with a rate increase to 4 d., applicable from November 1, 1956. Some 27 million booklet stamps hade benn printed at the old rate and these, with the exception of some retained by the P.O., were destroyed. An extraordinarily rare stamp, the Post Office Arhives sale released four single stamps, four Booklet panes of six and a Plate Number block of twelve (since reduced to a horizontal strip of four) in 1986/87 when sold by tender.
