    Sardinia 1856 (April 26): Entire letter from Thonon to Bonpertuis, Isère, manuscript "timbre insuffisant", bearing 1854 20 c. blue, a fine and fresh examples with good to large margins all round from the top right marginal corner, tied by light THONON despatch cds in black, French "SARD. 28 AVRIL 56 Pt DE BEAUVOISIN" entry cds in red alongside. Reverse with CHAMBERY, GRENOBLE and VOIRON transit cds (April 29) cds's. Upon arrival taxed with '5' décimes in manuscript. Light horizontal filing fold well away from the adhesive, nevertheless an interesting and attractive entire.rnNote: In the first postal treaty between Sardinia and France from July 1851, letters to France had to be fully prepaid with 50 centesimi or unpaid. Partially prepaid letters were regarded as fully unpaid.

    Sardinia 1860 (Nov 16): Cover from Iglesias, Sardinia to Ajaccio, Corsica, bearing IV. issue 10 c. 'bruno cioccolato scuro' and 40 c. 'rosso mattone', two fine and fresh examples with good to large margins all round, tied by clear IGLESIAS despatch cds (Sassone CA = 7 punti) in black, framed "FRANCOBOLLO INSIFFICIENTE" alongside. Reverse with SASSARI transit and AJACCIO arrival (Nov 21) cds's. Upon arrival taxed with '7' décimes. Lightest horizontal filing fold well away from the adhesive, some acid ink in the address, nevertheless an attractive and interesting shipmail cover full of postal history. Signed Vaccari; certs. E.
