    1865/72: ½ r. blue on blued paper, a fine large margined example used on 1870 mourning cover to Paris tied by "QUITO / FRANCA" cds in black (July 2) paying the internal postage with GUAYAQUIL British P.O. cds (July 9) on reverse. Circular "PANAMA / TRANSIT" cds in black (July 29) and thence via London (Aug 28) where struck with framed "GB / 1F 90 c." accountancy marking in black. Charged with handstruck '12' décimes due marking upon arrival. One of the finest first issue covers from this correspondence (believed just 12 with various single frankings), originally found at the Granada Exhibition in 1992. Cert. Three line dated "PANAMA / TRANSIT" in black (May 20) and thence via London (June 12) where struck with framed "GB / 1F 90 c." accountancy marking in black. Charged with handstruck '12' décimes due marking upon arrival.     1872: ½ r. blue, a used example on 1877 cover from Quito to Paris, tied by gros chiffres "3154" in black (formerly of Rixheim, Alsace), with reverse showing British P.O. GUAYAQUIL cds of transit (June 17). Thence via Panama to London (July 12) where struck with "T / 1-70" accountancy handstamp in black and charged with handstruck '23' décimes marking in black.
