Tyber" (RMSP Steamer), franked by 1870 80 r. orange, perf. 12½, tied by "1" numeral obliterator with Lisbon despatch cds alongside (Dec 29). Reverse with Rio de Janeiro arrival cds (Jan  16, 1875) with manuscript '300' reis due in blue crayon.     PSNC 1874: Mourning envelope from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro franked by 1870 150 r. blue, perf. 13½, tied by "1" numeral obliterator with Lisbon cds below (May 31). Rio de Janeiro arrival cds (June 23) on reverse with framed "300 / Rs." Postage Due marking in black. Carried on PSNC Steamer "Cotopaxi". Flap missing otherwise fine, a scarce stamp on letter. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 95.

Paquete" franked by 1870 50 r. green and 100 r. lilac, perf. 12½, tied by "16" numeral obliterator with Porto despatch cds alongside (Sept 28). Carried on the non subsidised RMSP Steamer "Tiber". Reverse with Rio de Janeiro arrival cds (Oct 16) with manuscript '300' reis due in blue crayon. Some toning around perfs. but not unattractive. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 95.rn

    Lamport & Holt (Booth) Line / Messageries Impériales 1872/73: Entire letters (2) from Barcelona to Buenos Ayres, Argentina, each mailed from Lisbon. Earlier entire endorsed "Vapor Ebro" (L&H Line), franked by 1870 80 r. orange, perf. 12½, tied by "1" numeral obliterator with Lisbon despatch cds alongside - rate for subsidised ships; second entire with 1870 50 r. green, small fault and 100 r. lilac carried by unsubsidised French Packet "Senegal". A saving of 70 reis using a subsidised ship.
