    Italian PO's in Egypt 1864 (Feb 19): Unpaid Entire letter from Alexandria to Vienna, endorsed "Via Ancona", struck by light "ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE" cds in black, framed "PIROSCAFI POSTALI ITALIANI" handstamp and "S. 2.r" (Sardinia 2nd rayon) postal treaty handstamp, both in black alongside. Reverse with Ancona transit cds (Feb 25) and WIEN arrival cds (Feb 28) in red. The receiver had to pay '47' (kr.) for Italian Shipmail, Italian and Austrian postal services. A rare case where the Italian services were prefered before the Austrian ones for a letter to Austria. Also a 'POSTA EUROPEA / MANSURA' cover to Samanoud.

Framed "Egypitan Expedy Force / records Section" cachet at left in violet and Cairo arrival backstamp (April 6) on reverse.

    Suez Canal Company 1868 (July): 5 c. green, the famous cover bearing four used examples (Types II-III-II-I), all with large margins all round, on 15 August 1868 cover from Mr. Lombard in Kantara to Mr. Gérard in Port Said, all cancelled by "II" pen strokes in black. Reverse with pearled French Post Office "Port Saiud" cds of receipt (Aug 15) in black. Slight tear at right of face panel away from the adhesives, but just three Suez Canal Company covers are recorded with the 5 c. value.     Suez Canal Company 1868 (July): 20 c. blue, a used example with good to large margins all round, used on 14 July 1868 entire letter from Leon Labbé in Port Said to the merchants Mazet & Martin in Kantara, tied by Port Said "5129" gros chiffres in black. Slight stain on face panel away from adhesive. This is the earliest recorded date of use of any Suez Canal Company stamp on letter.
