Fresh and fine, a scarce and attractive group.

    1894: Liberty 10 c. violet, an unused block of twenty-five (5 x 5) imperforate at top and marginal with part imprint at base, pre-cancelled, used as a Salesman's Sample, the reverse showing nine different Seebeck Advertising Underprints for Cigarettes (three different brands), Adam's Tutti Frutti, Chocolate, Crackers, Beecham's Pills, Pear's Soap and Hood's Sarsaparilla; printed in blue. Rare and most unusual.

    1894: Provisional 1 c. on 11 c. vermilion block of eight with pair on reverse with additional Jan 1894 1 c. brown pair, used on 1894 cover to San Francisco cancelled by circular 'Star' handstamps with 'San Salvador' cds alongside (Nov 12), and San Francisco arrivals on reverse (Dec 1). A remarkable and early usage of these provisonals (Scott and Gibbons list issue date as December). The block just off the edge of cover with a few perfs. clipped but rare.
