    France. 1868 (Jan 28): Wrapper from Paris to Christiania, Norway franked by 4 c. grey and 1862 10 c. bistre pair tied by despatch cds's and by framed "Franco Preuss: / resp.Vereinsl:Ausg:Gr" in blue (Van Der Linden fig. 1505) with red "PP" of despatch and charged 8 skillings due on delivery with "Christiania Bypost" cds (2/2) in black at left of arrival. Superb and very rare.

    France. 1875 (Dec 31): Last Day (prior to France joining UPU on the following day) cover mailed to Italy franked by 1871/75 15 c. bistre and 25 c. blue tied by Paris Star struck unusually in blue. Minor opening fault at top but an attractive cover. Note: France was an original signatory of the GPU/UPU. France however 'joined' on January 1, 1876 whilst all the other original signatories 'joined'  on July 1, 1875.

Insignificant minor bends on a few values often not touching the Essays. A colourful, rare and most attractive group.

    VI Congress, Rome 1906: "Timbres-Poste Pour Le Service International", Essay produced by J. Sigismond for the reply paid discussions, with 5 c., 10 c. and 25 c. values imperforate in miniature sheet format, creased, numbered 509 of 1'000 printed and signed by Sigismond at right. The stamps list 41 UPU member states and are printed in green, red and blue. A most unusual piece.

    France. 1892: "Livret D'Identitite" Booklet No. 09,744 showing France Type Sage 50c. carmine imprinted on on green cover surcharged "ANNULE" in violet. A relatively fresh and fine mint example of this extremely rare 36 page Booklet, unused. Certificate Behr (1989). Also used Identity Cards from Germany and Netherlands (1967 and 1939). France had lobbied successfully at the Lisbon Congress for these Identity Cards and Booklets to be introduced.

    France. 1906: Essay for reply Paid Letter-Card with undenominated Sower in blue on green stock with beige inside, prepared for the Congress and unadopted, both sides being handstamped "SPÉCIMEN" in black. Also a denominated '25' "Lettre-Auto-Enveloppe" in black on straw stock. Rare and most unusual items. Note: This French proposal was only narrowly defeated at the Congress.

    100th Anniversary of the First Conference, Paris 1963 (May 4): The superb collection with France 50 c. grey-olive used on Postal Notice on first day, imperforate example in Plate Block of four, Artist signed Proofs (2) in blue and in black, imperforate Colour Trials in variety of colours in blocks and strips (20 stamps), Austria issue with black print and Colour Trials imperf., Belgium with Proofs in black, Artist signed Proofs (2) and imperforate multiples, Ecuador with imperforate set for Delegates, GB with 6 d. showing missing phosphor variety in blocks, Hungary with imperf. 1 f., Monaco with signed Artist`s Proofs in un-issued colours, imperforate Colour Trials in strips and blocks, Spain, USA etc. with covers and Delegate`s ephemera throughout.
