    1867: 5 c. red and 20 c. green, used on 1874 mourning envelope to San Francisco, USA tied by black mute handstamps with 'Valparaiso' despatch cds in red (Oct 31) alongside. Reverse with 'Callao' British P.O. cds of transit (Nov 13) in black. Three line PANAMA / TRANSIT (Nov 20) in black and the 5 c. also tied by "12" rate mark with circular "San Francisco / Steamship" cds at left (Dec 15) of arrival and marked at "22 / CENTS" due - the '12' being the British credit.     1870: Unpaid cover from Valparaiso to Prato, Tuscany mailed from British P.O. with VALPARAISO / UNPAID cds on reverse (July 3) in black, via London with transit cds on reverse and struck with "GB / 1F 90c." accountancy marking, thence via Calais and charged '28' decimi due with 1870 Postage Due 40 c. pair and 1 lire applied and tied 'Prato' cds's (Aug 16). An attractive cover.

    1873: Cover from Valparaiso to Dijon, France endorsed 'via Panama' at top, struck with octagonal "VALPARAISO / PAQ. FR. F. No 1" datestamp (May 12) in black (Salles fig. 1582 - 'piece d'amateur'). Carried on the 'Ville de St. Nazaire' as far as Callao, where trans-shipped to the 'Ville de Bordeaux' to Panama. Again trans-shipped at Colon travelling on the 'Louisiane' to Bordeaux (June 25) and charged '15' décimes due in black. A rare and most attractive cover.

Top flap missing on reverse of what appears to be an invitation envelope. Some peripheral ageing but an extremely rare issue on letter.
