A dramatic and particularly wonderful Essay, believed to be one of the two surviving handpainted Essays for Queensland issues. A dramatic and particularly wonderful Essay, believed to be one of the two surviving handpainted Essays for Queensland issues. Reverse with pencil annotations "Channel 1/20 wide outside design" and dated "4.5.00". An exhibition item (fits nicely on an album page) of the highest calibre.

W. Gray, M.L.C., with the Postmaster General's compliments'. The document neatly cut in half, presumably for easier display, and without doubt one of the most charming Proof pages of Australian States recorded.
