    1900: Anglo-Boer War Patriotic Fund, the accepted Essay by F. Elliott for the 1 d. (6 d.) value, handpainted on thick board, 115 x 188 mm., in brown, grey, pale yellow, deep brown and Chinese white, and signed at lower right by the artist. A dramatic and particularly wonderful Essay, believed to be one of the two surviving handpainted Essays for Queensland issues. Reverse with pencil annotations "Channel 1/20 wide outside design" and dated "4.5.00". An exhibition item (fits nicely on an album page) of the highest calibre.
