    French Levant 1853: 20 c. deep blue, used in combination with 40 c. orange (four fine examples), on 1858 double rate cover from Smyrne to Geneva, tied by '3709' petit chiffres with 'Smyrne / Turquie' French P.O. datestamp alongside (March 23).     1864: Cover from Constantinople to Lyon franked by 1862 10 c. bistre and 40 c. orange tied by dotted Anchor lozenge and fine GODEWERY Paquebot datestamp alongside (Aug 25) struck in blue (Salles fig. 777). Small cartridge 'Paquebots / De La / Mediterranée' in red alongside and reverse with Marseille and Lyon (Aug 31) cds's. Fresh and fine cover.

Sowers tied by bilingual Turkish 'Paquebot' handstamp, various usages of French stamps on covers from Egypt (6) from 1878 onwards, 1900 Military cover from Dakar (Sénégal). Condition varies but a most interesting group. Ex collection Del Bianco.
