    Austrian Consular Post Office in Galatz 1866 (Aug 22): Cover from Galatz to Corfu, Ionian Islands; disinfected with chisel slits, franked by 1864 Austrian Levant 10 soldi blue pair, perf 9½, tied by "Galatz" datestamp in black. The pair affected by chisel slit and over-lapped for inland delivery on arrival with Greece Large Hermes 2nd Athens printing 20 lepta blue on bluish tied by "Kerkyra" datestamp (Aug 24) with repeated strike of this datestamp on reverse. An attractive and scarce cover. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 162.

    Austrian Consular Post Office in Galatz 1865 (Dec 12): Cover, disinfected with chisel slits, used  from Galatz with fine central strike of Austrian P.O. "Galatz" datestamp on front, mailed to Corfu, Ionian Islands unpaid. Sent via Vienna (27/12) and Triest to Kerkyra with datestamps on reverse, on arrival taxed for both inland delivery (20 lepta) and unpaid charge of 135 lepta with exceptional five colour franking of Large Hermes 2nd Athens printing 5 lepta green on bluish green, 10 lepta orange on blued, 20 lepta blue, 40 lepta mauve on blue and 80 lepta carmine on rose all tied by "Kerkyra" datestamps (Dec 20). A delightful, colourful and very rare cover. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 161.

    Russian Post Office in Galatz 1871 (Sept 2): Cover from Galatz to Taganrog franked by 1868 Russian Levant 10 kopek green & carmine, perf. 11½, tied by "GALATS" datestamp in green (Tchilinghirian fig. 49, later than recorded date). Odessa transit datestamp on reverse (Sept 8) and Taganrog arrival datestamp on front (Sept 13). A very rare usage from this Office. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 167. Cert. RPS (1977).     Greek Post Offices in Romania 1865/70: Large Hermes selection (3) with 80 lepta deep carmine cancelled by clear "100" lozenge of dots in blue of the Galatz Post Office; 40 lepta rosy mauve on blued and 80 lepta deep carmine each cancelled by "101" lozenge of dots of the Ibraila Post Office in blue. Some marginal imperfections but very scarce. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 155. All signed Pfenninger.

    1853 (Jan 22): Entire letter from Ibraila, dated inside the entire, mailed to Syros, Greece and struck on transit on front with fine circular "Paid" and circular Greek Post Office "Constantinople / Turkey" datestamp (Feb 7) both well struck in blue. Manuscript notation of Forwarding Agent on reverse alongside Syros arrival cds (Feb 11) in black. A charming entire. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 155.
