Berlad Postal Fraud. 40 parale greenish blue on yellowish grey paper, a re-used example previously lightly cancelled in blue, applied to the cover "face down" (the cleverest of all ways to avoid detection on this fraud) and tied to cover to Galatz by "BERLAD / MOLDOVA" datestamp (8/9) also in blue. Further strike of the despatch datestamp at upper right and reverse showing Galatz arrival (10/9) datestamp. Extremely rare: just five covers are known with the Postal Fraud from Berlad, this being the only recorded single franking. Illustrated in Edition d'Or on page 77 and in Handbook I on page 176. Cert. Heimbüchler (2010).

3 parale yellow on greenish blue paper, handstruck from single Dies on thin wove paper, the extraordinary usage on 1863 entire letter from Galatz to Husch, with ten examples prepaying the single letter rate of 30 parale: a single example, horizontal strip of four and a horizontal strip of five; the latter strip separated on the opening of the entire with two stamps folded over on to the reverse remaining un-cancelled, the balance being neatly cancelled by framed "FRANCO / GALATZ" handstamps in black (Kiriac fig. 308) with "Galatz / Moldova" datestamp (9/2) alongside and Husch arrivals (13/2) on reverse in green. A wonderful and extremely rare entire for the classic specialist, the sole recorded cover bearing the 3 pa. on grrenish blue paper.
