Carried on French Paquebot "Tonkin" with octagonal "Ligne N / Paq. Fr. No. 4" datestamp on reverse, with Zurich arrival (Dec 19) alongside. A fresh and fine cover. 1905: Cover from USA to Canton / China, franked by Lincoln 5 c. blue cancelled at Nottingham, Pa. (Oct 18), the cover was mailed via Victoria / Hong Kong (Nov 21) to British P.O. in "CANTON" (Nov 22) and thence returned as the addressee was not found, to Hong Kong. Struck there with further Victoria / Hong Kong cds (Nov 24) and also a fine strike of framed "Hong Kong / D.L.O." (Dead Letter Office) in black and returned to sender via Seattle. A rare marking.
